GISELA ROMERO
Visual Artist
Gisela Romero is a Visual Artist born in Venezuela who currently lives and works in Orlando, FL.
She holds a Master of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and a BA in
Illustration from California College of Arts in Oakland, California.
Gisela Romero works with different media on different surfaces including Drawing, Printing Systems and Photography, she has been editorial and institutional illustrator and art teacher at cultural institutions
and universities such as the Design Institute of the Neumann Foundation,
Armando Reverón Art Institute and the Simón BolÃvar University, Caracas.
Since 1992 she has worked as a Visual Artist exhibiting her Drawings in Galleries, Museums and Public
Spaces and her work is represented in public and private collections.
Among her individual exhibitions are: PECULIAR FORMS at the Besharat Gallery in Atlanta, GA,
MUNDOS at the Public Spaces of LA CAJA, Chacao Cultural Center, Caracas, AVATARES at
Artepuy-Beatriz Gil Gallery, Caracas, IN REVERSE at Studio Soto at Boston, SISTEMAS and CONTRARIOS
at the Namia Mondolfi Gallery in Caracas. The Drawings of Gisela Romero has been
exhibited at the Alejandro Otero Museum, Caracas, the ARCO Art Fair in Madrid, the
Sofia Imber Contemporary Art Museum, Caracas, the PINTA Art Fair in New York City,
the Estampa Museum Carlos Cruz-Diez, Caracas and the ESTAMPA Art Fair in Madrid.
Her work has been reviewed in Venezuelan press such as El Nacional, El Universal and
Diario de Caracas and in foreign press such as The Atlantic and ArtNexus, as well as in
catalogs, magazines and art pages on the Internet. Romero has participated in Artist Residences in Spain, the United States, Thailand, Italy and Norway. Gisela Romero is a member of the AVAP,
the Venezuelan Association of Visual Artists and of the TAGA, Artistas Gráficos Asociados and she is a member of ACeRo Art Group.
